The information below applies only to tickets of 16-24 mph over the speed limit.
Attorney Fee - $200 (Court costs are separate and in addition to attorney fee – see below)
Extremely Likely Outcome - Improper Equipment, which is a non-moving violation.
For tickets in Buncombe and Madison Counties:
Extremely Likely Court Costs - $263 (Not due until at least 1 week before your court date). Do not worry about having to pay more than the amount shown for court costs because in the unlikely event that your court costs are higher, we will pay the difference for you!
For tickets in Henderson, Polk, and Transylvania Counties:
Extremely Likely Court Costs - $278 (Not due until at least 1 week before your court date). Court costs are $15 higher in these three counties due to the District 29B discretionary fee. Do not worry about having to pay more than the amount shown for court costs because in the unlikely event that your court costs are higher, we will pay the difference for you!
Why are the court costs different from the costs shown on the ticket? Because the costs shown on your ticket are the costs for pleading responsible to your speeding charge. When you pay court costs for an Improper Equipment, you are not pleading responsible to speeding and therefore do not need to pay the costs listed on your ticket.
